Operator's Instructions - Model 85 Water Filter

STEP 1
Filter plates are closed and the bodyfeed tank has been filled with the appropriate amount of water and DE.
  1. Operator depresses "START CLEAN CYCLE" button.
    1. Clean cycle starts.

STEP 2
  1. Filter blows down into bodyfeed tank.
    1. Blow-down is clean water only.
  2. Clean cycle "HOLD" light flashes.
  3. Operator opens filter plates with hand wheel.

STEP 3
  1. Operator removes septum trays from between open filter plates.
    1. Spent filter cake and septum are deposited into receptacle.
    2. Elasped time approx. 10 minutes.

STEP 4
  1. New septa are placed on trays.
  2. Trays are placed between plates.
  3. Filter plates are closed.

STEP 5
  1. Operator presses clean cycle "START" button.
    1. Elapsed time 15 minutes.
  2. Filter goes into automatic precoat.
    1. Filter pump starts and draws DE and water from bodyfeed tank.
    2. This mixture forms a precoat on septum.
    3. Clean water flows back to bodyfeed tank.

STEP 6
  1. After precoat bodyfeed tank automatically fills.
  2. Operator adds appropriate amount of DE.
  3. Effluent turbidity is checked. If turbidity is above 0.5 NTU, filter goes into automatic recirculation.
  4. Filter automatically goes on-line.
    1. Bodyfeed rate is controlled automatically.
    2. Total elapsed time 30 minutes.
